Buffalo Stampede

Friday 8 April 2016
Accredited SkyRuns are the steepest, roughest, highest mountain runs there are. Bright is a unique venue for SkyRunning and running in general, with trails connecting the centre of town directly to the high Alpine country, in a way very few other Australian towns can do.

2016 will bring the Buffalo Stampede into its 3rd year. Participants will head up to the iconic Mount Buffalo from the centre of the township in Bright. Entrance from all over the nation attended the event in 2014 and 2015. With over 400 registered runners in 2014, it was the biggest start up trail run in Australia or New Zealand.

International Skyrunners from destinations around the globe attend this event, along with local entrants in 2014 running their first trail runs ever and winning various divisions. Each runner can choose their challenge by registering for the Ultra Skymarathon or the Skymarathon.

In 2015, the International SkyRunning Federation designates five Continental Championships instead of the World Championships. Buffalo Stampede was the Oceania Championship, and one of eight SkyRuns in Australia and New Zealand.
